The Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals ruled on the constitutionality of Virginia's ban on marriage equality (Bostic v. Schaefer) today. With this win, the ruling in the Virginia case could bring us that much closer to the freedom to marry in North Carolina, South Carolina, and West Virginia.

The ruling could also have implications for marriage in three other states in the Fourth Circuit, including North Carolina, setting binding precedent for Amendment One challenges in federal district court and possibly laying legal groundwork for the Supreme Court to affirm the freedom to marry nationwide.
