About The Event Evolve + Rebel® presents The Pursuit [Hair | Art | Tattoo | Fashion Fusion] at the University Ballroom in the Hilton. This event will highlight a Charlotte based brand in presenting their 2017 collection entitled "Pursuit". In addition, there will also be a competition, exhibit of visual art, tattoo & piercing pagodas, performing artists and presentations highlighting various recognized brands, industry professionals, independent artists and emerging stylists. Presenting a select exhibitor booths, Evolve + Rebel will bring together current trends, high-energy ambiance, limitless creativity and networking opportunities for professionals in the cosmetic, wellness, spa, perfumery, natural health, nails, salon and barber industry. Visitors, exhibitors, distributors and buyers will be able to walk-around over 172,000 square feet of exhibition space dedicated to booths, live demonstrations, performances and extreme networking. Industry professionals and students can take part in the following competition categories: Creative Freestyle Barber & Avant Garde. The event will conclude with a presentation of awards and honorable mentions. Interested exhibitors will have the chance to display a line of new products and services, expand networking and distribution channels, and strengthen their brand awareness. The trade show will be open and not limited to various sectors such as: cosmetic, wellness, spa, perfumery, natural health, nails, salon and barber. BENEFITING LUEKEMIA SOCIETY Avant Garde Hair Competition DESCRIPTION: This portrays the artist’s creative ability to transcend the stereotypes of beauty. COMPETITION TYPE: Team composed of makeup, hair & nails. JUDGED ON: Design (30) Creativity (40) Technical Ability (15) Execution (15) = 100 points OVERALL RULES FOR STYLIST PROFESSIONALS & STUDENTS 1. Th ere’s (3) three hours time limit. 2. No makeup is to be applied to the model prior to the competition, including false lashes.4. Air-brush makeup is allowed. 5. Hair pieces, extensions, artificial hair, and/or wigs are acceptable. 6. Costumes are acceptable and must compliment overall look, but judging will be based on head and shoulders only. If not in costume, model must be in all black. 7. Only professional FDA compliant make-up, adhesives glitters, and paints allowed. We will observe to ensure only proper products are being used. 8. Your piece will be judged according to originality, quality/technique, clean line work, composition, use of color and overall impression. 9. Hair/Makeup/Nails must all follow the theme. Come hard or don’t come at all. Barbers will be judged on how creative and clean their cut/design is. You do whatever you want use any color you want and No pre-cuts. Barbers will be judged on the complexity, color uniformity, the design, and overall haircut. There are no extra points given or deducted for color usage. Theme Outfit is not judged in this competition but is welcomed. COMPETITION TYPE: "Freestyle" and "Creative" JUDGED ON: Design (30) Creativity (40) Technical Ability (15) Execution (15) = 100 points OVERALL RULES FOR BARBER PROFESSIONALS & STUDENTS 1. All contestants must bring a live model and barbering tools in order to participate in competition. The competition fee includes a two day pass entry into the exclusive networking party the day before and entry to the event for the competitor and model. Model numbers will be given to all participating models once confirmed and check in at the registration area. 2. All models’ hair must be cut at competition. Competitor is not allowed to cut, trim, shape or preset model’s hair before the competition begins. Semi-permanent color, permanent color, light color sprays and chalks are allowed unless otherwise noted. Barber must show a transformation of the model’s hair. The judges will inspect model’s hair during pre-judging or during check-in. Violation of this rule will result in the deduction of points and/or disqualification from competition. 3. All contestants must check in at the registration area at least one hour prior to the battle. If contestant is late, they will forfeit their place in the competition and their paid entry fee or fees. Please look for “Check In” when you arrive to the battle. 4. All contestants will have a specific time to complete their particular cut and style. Judging will be conducted on a visual basis only. Judges will use a point system on a scale of one (lowest possible score) to ten (highest possible score). If there is a tie in a category or prize placement, the judges will determine the final winner. 5. Only currently licensed cosmetologists or enrolled students qualify for entry into the event. 6. Licensed Barbers must be current and registered with the State Board of Barber and have your ID number and State issued ID available. 7. Once the competition begins, competitors and/or models may NOT leave the competition area without the permission of the competition staff. Failure to comply will result in disqualification. Please check in on time at the assigned registration kiosk in the registration area. Under no circumstances will competitors arriving late be allowed in the prep area. 8. All Work MUST be done on site, unless otherwise noted. 9. At no time during a competition should models assist the competitor in any capacity. 10. Competitors must supply ALL necessary products and supplies. 11. Only tables and chairs will be provided at the competition’s briefing site. (Electricity will be provided only when indicated in specific rules and electrical appliances must be 110 volts and no more than 1500 watts.) 12. ALL COMPETITORS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THEIR OWN PERSONAL BELONGINGS!! NO EXCEPTIONS! 13. Only one set of hands on the model entered. Only 1 stylist to perform the finished look desired. Any coaching, outside help or outside hands are PROHIBITED. Today, tattoos are routinely seen on rock stars, professional sports figures, ice skating champions, fashion models, movie stars and other public figures who play a significant role in setting the culture's contemporary mores and behavior patterns. Live Visual Art Exhibit Artists who choose the streets as their gallery are often doing so from a preference to communicate directly with the public at large, free from perceived confines of the formal art world.Street artists sometimes present socially relevant content infused with esthetic value, to attract attention to a cause or as a form of "art provocation". Street artists often travel between countries to spread their designs.
