We invite you to join HRC as we walk with the Circle Up team in the 2014 Susan G. Komen Charlotte Race for the Cure on Saturday, October 4, 2014! You can register to walk or run in the 5K, walk a mile, OR sign up to "Sleep in for the Cure", be a member of the team but catch a few more zzzz's on Race morning!
And there are activities galore on Race morning as well!
Numerous HRC members are already walking with Circle Up each year, our HRC sisters to whom this cause is very important. So, we decided to officially join them in 2014!
Who is Circle Up, you ask? Circle Up was founded in 1999 to support Bryn and Lynn, who were diagnosed with breast cancer just 2 weeks apart. Bryn is still with us but Lynn, who many of you know, lost her life in 2009. Forming a team was a means of positive action, and today Circle Up is among the largest, most successful teams in Charlotte. In fact, Circle Up consistently wins awards for the largest Friends and Family team. And collectively, Circle Up has raised over $500,000 in Race related events!
So, let’s extend our HRC family, walk with pride with our HRC flag, and join Circle Up in finding a cure, together!
The Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure® Series is the world’s largest and most successful fundraising and education event for breast cancer ever created – and 30,000 participants are expected at the 2014 Charlotte Race which will start in Marshall Park in uptown Charlotte. Our participation in this event will help save lives and provide priceless support to those in need.
