my partner has been offered a job in Charlotte but we're very unsure about this state and city as a place to live. We're an older couple. would like to hear from residents about the culture, viz., LGBT friendly.

Charlotte is a great city to live in - beautiful, thriving economy, pretty (as much as can be expected these days) friendly, and probably the most gay-friendly city in the South-East. There are plenty of gay clubs, bookstores, a great theater community, and a number of great museums. I've lived here all my life (30 years), but have traveled all over the US... I find gay life in Charlotte to be the best. It's a good mix of relaxed atmosphere and active homosexual community.
I used to live in charlotte. There are a number of clubs/ bars that are for gay/ lesbian folks as well as mixed clubs and bars. Very gay friendly with a number of gay neigborhoods. As for crime, its not that bad. For a city, I happen to like it and have been thinking of moving back.
